Job Title: Specialist Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences team at NHS. The successful candidate will be responsible for working across three sites, including hospitals that operate 24/7, and will be required to rotate across the haematology and transfusion sections.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-level biomedical analyses and processes, managing workload to comply with quality standards and key performance indicators.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to ensure engagement and participation in planning, progress, and completion of changes.
  • Proactively manage and contain risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to ensure successful delivery of change and minimum disruption to business continuity.
  • Provide training and professional leadership to staff in your area of responsibility, including monitoring their performance against laboratory standards and training plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, including HCPC accreditation, Pathology First policies, and MHRA directives.
Requirements:
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice or equivalent specialist qualifications.
  • Ability to work across three sites, including hospitals that operate 24/7.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Specialized knowledge of Haematology and Transfusion techniques and practices.
Person Specification:
  • HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • MSc/FIBMS.
  • Management Qualification to ILM level 3 or relevant experience.
