Position Title:
Mechanical Operations Manager


We are currently in search of a Mechanical Operations Manager with extensive experience in large-scale projects on behalf of a reputable building services firm that has secured multiple design and build contracts across various sectors including residential, mixed-use, hospitality, and essential services.

This expansion has led to the need for a seasoned Mechanical Operations Manager to oversee a significant mixed-use development project valued at £20 million, which is currently in the pre-construction stage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proven experience in managing large residential or mixed-use developments in London with a minimum value of £15 million in mechanical and electrical works.
  • Conducting regular health and safety site inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Overseeing the creation and execution of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to construction schedules, reporting any delays to project management.
  • Providing necessary information to the project Document Controller for the maintenance of installation and delay tracking systems.

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Participating in bi-weekly planning meetings with site management to coordinate subcontractor activities and workload management.
  • Managing the installation processes for both first and second fix stages of infrastructure and fit-out projects.
  • Ensuring all installations comply with client specifications, project scope, technical drawings, and quality standards.
  • Assisting the Project Manager with procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks and documenting findings using iAuditor.
  • Facilitating the sign-off process through Field View.

It is essential to ensure adherence to testing and commissioning protocols, including reporting on Field View and supervising the commissioning of core structures.

Responsibilities also include managing testing documentation and approvals for life safety systems and all subcontracted work.

Qualifications required:

  • Industry-standard qualifications in HVAC, Heating and Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
