Key Details

Position Title: Senior Quality Engineer

Location: Carlisle, Cumbria

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Essential Qualifications

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Offering comprehensive support to the Project and Production Teams by providing technical and quality-related information, along with necessary documentation.
  • Estimating costs and task durations for the preparation, submission, and approval of job-related documentation.
  • Maintaining and effectively managing the Business Unit Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 3834-2 standards.
  • Regularly reviewing and implementing local procedures, working documents, welding procedures, qualifications, and records.
  • Coordinating the calibration of manufacturing and testing equipment within the Carlisle Manufacturing Business Unit.
  • Ensuring all customer quality requirements are effectively implemented and upheld within the work environment.
  • Participating in bid meetings to confirm technical and quality compliance essential for successful contract completion and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Collaborating with subcontractors and client representatives to ensure quality compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, third-party inspection firms, manufacturing teams, management, and suppliers.
  • Continuously assessing new and existing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the reliable provision of products and services in line with client requirements.
  • Contributing to departmental development and striving for continuous improvement through feedback and experience.
  • Adhering to and promoting the Company Values.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A background as a Time Served Engineer, ideally with an ONC/HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of Machining & Fabrication along with organizational and planning experience.
  • Certification in CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspection.
  • The ability to interpret Engineering Drawings and associated Geometric Tolerances and Symbols.
  • An understanding of Material Grades and the implications of associated material specifications.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • A quick-thinking, dynamic, and persistent approach to achieving results.
  • The ability to diplomatically coordinate customer activities.
  • Adaptability, self-motivation, decisiveness, and commitment.
  • A good working knowledge of computer systems.

  • Mainly office-based at the Carlisle site.
  • Occasional visits to various locations within the UK.
