About the Role

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for guiding the testing team throughout the phases of test analysis, design, construction, and execution. The primary focus is to lead the team effectively, ensuring that tasks are planned, executed on schedule, and meet or exceed client expectations.

A significant aspect of this role involves providing regular, precise, and succinct updates on the team's progress, showcasing recent accomplishments, upcoming tasks, and any potential risks or issues that could hinder the team's objectives. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be adept at innovating testing strategies and adapting methodologies as necessary to foster continuous improvement.

  • Establish and uphold Test Plans and Test Schedules
  • Delegate tasks, track progress, and offer constructive feedback to team members
  • Gather and present test metrics and statistics to inform the Project or Test Manager
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the testing team
  • Facilitate both top-down and bottom-up analysis of systems and components
  • Ensure that the Test Plan and proposed testing solutions align with customer requirements
  • Verify the accuracy of Test Data against specified requirements
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive execution schedule
  • Compile status reports for management, highlighting issues and risks
  • Oversee the defect logging process, adjusting plans based on defect risks
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing testing approaches and processes
  • Support the career development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring
  • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the organization
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships as part of a delivery team, providing regular updates to clients and leadership
  • Contribute to the sales pipeline by identifying new opportunities within existing accounts and engaging in pre-sales activities
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as required by the organization

What We Look For

PASSIONATE

  • Proven experience in managing teams across multiple projects
  • Familiarity with implementing waterfall, agile, and hybrid/custom testing methodologies

EXCELLENCE

  • Subject Matter Expert level experience with leading testing tools
  • Background in project and resource management

COMMITMENT

  • Experience in a senior testing role, including team leadership
  • Broad exposure to various Testing phases, including User Acceptance Testing and Live Proving

STRAIGHT TALKING

  • Ability to engage and cultivate strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure business value is prioritized
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding of how test automation fits within the overall testing strategy, prioritizing business needs to maximize return on investment
  • Advocacy for best practices in testing and automated testing
  • Management certification is a plus
