About the Role

The Quality Engineering Manager will possess a comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies and the challenges faced in various projects. They will be well-versed in a broad spectrum of functional and non-functional testing techniques and will stay updated with the latest industry trends, methods, and tools applicable to testing, applying them effectively in project contexts.

This role entails overall responsibility for managing the testing phase of projects. The Quality Engineering Manager will lead the testing efforts, which includes defining the Test Strategy and Test Planning, ensuring timely completion within established budgets, and achieving a quality level that meets or surpasses client expectations.

Innovative thinking regarding optimal testing strategies and requirements will be essential. The manager will adapt testing approaches as necessary to ensure relevance to the context and promote continuous improvement.

Utilizing an advanced understanding of IT solution architecture and key components (including GUI, operating systems, databases, computer hardware, networks, and security), the Quality Engineering Manager will inform the testing strategy and guide the team accordingly.

As a member of the Senior Delivery Team, the Quality Engineering Manager will advocate for Roq's Quality Engineering Ecosystem, principles, values, and contribute to business growth. They will prioritize their continuous self-development while supporting the growth and upskilling of others, collaborating across teams.

  • Define the High-Level Test Approach for Programs/Projects, advising on necessary test phases.
  • Maintain Test Strategy documentation.
  • Provide insights to Program/Project management regarding testing needs.
  • Estimate time requirements for test activities with accuracy.
  • Identify, document, and manage significant risks and issues related to testing.
  • Define and maintain Test Plan documentation.
  • Oversee Test progress, including task assignment, monitoring, and feedback.
  • Collect and report metrics and statistics related to testing activities.
  • Collaborate with all parties interfacing with testing.
  • Manage defects, including triaging, analysis, and reporting.
  • Oversee the creation of test data, including manipulating relational database data for automated test scripts.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of automation frameworks and scripts.
  • Seek opportunities for process improvements in testing.
  • Champion Testing and Quality throughout the project lifecycle, focusing on defect prevention.
  • Oversee Non-Functional testing, including Performance testing as required.
  • Provide management, direction, and mentoring for the testing team.
  • Support individuals' career aspirations through coaching and feedback.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration within the business and externally.
  • Manage internal and external key stakeholder relationships, providing regular updates.
  • Support the sales pipeline by identifying new opportunities and participating in pre-sales engagements.
  • Perform any other duties as necessary.
