An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a skilled Automotive Technician to become a vital member of our team, contributing to the Fleet Maintenance Division of the North West Ambulance Service. This position involves the upkeep of a diverse range of vehicles and associated equipment that operate within a broad geographic area.

The working hours align with our current shift patterns, divided among two teams, covering a seven-day operational week. The workshops are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays and from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekends. Each team's working schedule averages over a two-week period.

About Our Organization

The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust delivers round-the-clock emergency services to individuals requiring urgent medical assistance and transportation.

Our highly trained personnel provide life-saving care to patients in the community and facilitate non-emergency patient transport for those unable to travel independently due to medical conditions.

In collaboration with other emergency services, we strive to ensure public safety and patient care during major incidents.

Qualifications and Education

Essential Requirements

  • City and Guilds certification in motor vehicle technology or NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • A solid educational background, with a minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent.
  • A valid Full Driving Licence.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Driving Licence C1 + D1 (or working towards).
  • MOT Tester certification.

  • Comprehensive understanding of various computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems, with the ability to analyze and interpret diagnostic information for optimal repair solutions.
  • Capability to diagnose vehicle faults without diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience with Vehicle Fleet Management Systems.
