About the Role

We're seeking a talented individual to join our VAT team in London, which is responsible for providing a wide range of tax and consulting services to a broad range of companies. As a VAT Assistant Manager, you will be a key point of contact within the firm for clients, working with Partners/Directors on complex consultancy and advisory projects, as well as the review/management of some VAT compliance work.

You will manage your own portfolio of VAT clients, providing VAT advisory services to clients in a wide range of industry sectors in the UK and internationally. You will have ample opportunity to further develop your VAT technical skills as well as your relationship-building skills, managing your own client portfolio and furthering your career within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining key client relationships by delivering excellent client service;
  • Input into the successful delivery of VAT projects, ensuring technical excellence and a commercial approach is taken;
  • Manage and work on a portfolio of complex VAT advisory cases;
  • To be technically strong on VAT matters;
  • Identifying opportunities on client portfolio;
  • Support on VAT due diligence, including reviewing businesses for existing and potential tax issues from both a buy-side and sell-side perspective;
  • Liaison with Senior Managers to Partner grades;
  • Counsel and develop associate-level staff through delegation and on-the-job training;
  • Work collaboratively with peers in the Business Tax team and across the firm to ensure a joined-up approach.

Requirements

  • Proficient in UK VAT law gained within the profession and/or industry;
  • Client-driven and commercially minded;
  • Ability to deliver consistently excellent client service;
  • Motivated team player with a flexible attitude;
  • Excellent communicator (both written and oral);
  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and externally;
  • Qualified (or exam qualified) Accountant (ACA, ACCA) and/or CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA, law qualification).
