Job Title: Junior Merchandiser

As a Junior Merchandiser at JD Group, you will play a key role in driving sales and defining the strategy and planning of future ranges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review previous seasons and produce a SWOT analysis with supporting information.
  • Create a category-level product mix using history, SWOT, and SMT plan.
  • Formulate the space and grading plan for store distribution with the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Ensure the WSSI is updated with the buy plan and KPIs are signed off with the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Manage scheduling and Ideals for your area of responsibility.
  • Attend key selection meetings with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer.
  • Build the range plan and layout plans in conjunction with buying and VM.
  • Oversee ratios for all buys with the Assistant Merchandiser.
  • Ensure the buy matches the plan buy.
  • Establish working relationships with the supplier base.
  • Manage order books and stock seasonality within the WSSI.
Trading:
  • Review weekly trading performance and achieved KPIs, identifying issues and courses of action for the weekly trading meetings.
  • Propose and agree actions to recover risk and maximize opportunities with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer at category and line level.
  • Capture all agreed actions in the monthly forecast reviews.
  • Work up the forecast from category/season level to Buyer Group.
  • Meet and gain approval, incorporating forecasting sales variance to plan, creation of OTBs, management of commitments, and markdown proposals.
  • Provide Retail with rack lists/hit lists through Merchandise Assistants.
  • Manage the range plan in season, reflecting any changes.
  • Manage linecards and intake at category and line level.
  • Visit and understand the store base on a regular basis, creating action plans to optimize store performance.
  • Manage store option plans to ensure each store has the optimum amount of stock.
Teamwork:
  • Report to the Senior Merchandiser.
  • Work with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer to deliver the plan.
  • Guide and direct the Merchandising Team to help deliver the plan.
  • Provide and monitor development plans for the Assistant Merchandiser/Merchandise Assistant on a regular basis.
  • Communicate to the Retail Team anything that will impact store performance.
  • Establish working relationships with Store Operations, Visuals, Marketing, Finance, DC, etc.
