Position: Residential Support Officer Brent

Reporting Line: Housing Support Service Lead

Salary: £25,000 PA

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm)

Note: This is a field-based position, requiring support for tenants in their residences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Personal Housing Plans and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist clients in achieving their objectives outlined in their Personal Housing Plans.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify their housing and support requirements, as well as their aspirations, strengths, and capabilities, to enhance their independence.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to vulnerable individuals to help them manage their tenancies effectively.
  • Support clients in reporting maintenance issues.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to aid them in executing their Personal Housing Plans and addressing their support needs.
  • Perform routine reviews of risk assessments and support plans.
  • Offer assistance with budgeting, maximizing income, minimizing expenses, managing debt, rent arrears, and welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit.
  • Engage with various agencies to promote health and well-being, including harm reduction strategies to mitigate the effects of risky behaviors such as substance misuse.
  • Address any incidents of anti-social behavior in collaboration with Local Authorities and external partners, adhering to Caridon Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Refer clients to specialized organizations as needed.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and other stakeholders in cases of tenancy issues.
  • Maintain accurate internal digital records (Nourish/Arthur/Company Share drive).
  • Document and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with Caridon Foundation policies and established procedures.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings to advocate for clients' needs or those of Caridon Foundation.
  • Facilitate referrals to Resettlement Housing Officers and Local Authorities in cases of tenancy issues.
  • Assist clients in developing realistic move-on plans that align with their housing needs.
  • Conduct regular planned visits to sustain the support service for tenants.
  • Perform weekly property inspections and monthly health and safety assessments of assigned units.
  • Provide monthly statistical reports.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection compliance as per the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Provide support to other team members as required.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed by the service.

Communication:

  • Contribute to the Group Newsletter.
  • Gather case studies, photographs, and field information for Public Relations purposes.

Candidate Profile:

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in support work or a similar capacity.
  • Proven ability to establish nonjudgmental professional relationships with vulnerable clients, including those with mental health challenges or substance misuse issues.
  • Experience working with individuals who have faced homelessness.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and engage in training.
  • Capability to liaise effectively with other agencies.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including basic first aid, food hygiene, and infection control.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative and capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Act as a role model, sharing knowledge and experience while valuing the contributions of team members.
  • Full UK driving license is desirable.
