Position Overview

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled administrator to become part of the Safeguarding Advisory Service. This team is composed of various professionals including the Director of Safeguarding, Strategic Leads for Safeguarding Adults & Children, and other key roles dedicated to providing expert safeguarding advice, supervision, and training to a large workforce across multiple healthcare settings.

We are in search of a proactive, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to support this dynamic team, under the guidance of the PA & Office Manager.

This is a full-time role, and we are looking for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while also being able to work independently when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

As a Safeguarding Support Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in delivering administrative and secretarial support to ensure the efficient operation of the service.

This position offers a diverse and engaging experience, perfect for individuals who enjoy taking initiative and managing their own tasks while benefiting from the support of a larger administrative team. If you possess strong organizational skills and have a passion for supporting vulnerable populations, this role may be an excellent fit for you. While the nature of the work can be challenging, you will receive regular supervision and have opportunities to discuss any concerns with the broader team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant qualification equivalent to NVQ3 or RSA3 in secretarial/administration.

Desirable

  • AMSPAR or British Medical Secretary Diploma (including medical terminology) or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining office systems that facilitate the smooth operation of the team.
  • Proven track record in administrative roles.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships across various staff levels.
  • Experience in taking formal minutes at meetings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
