About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinician to join our team at HMP Littlehey. As a Senior Clinician, you will be responsible for providing expert-level advice on prisoner healthcare and management needs, both within the healthcare arena and to non-clinical staff across the establishment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to medical emergencies as an emergency first responder, coordinating care and providing clinical leadership while delivering pre-hospital clinical care of a high standard to prisoners.
  • Provide medical support and advice to the establishment when prisoners are relocated under control and restraint.
  • Administer medication in accordance with NMC guidelines.
  • Contribute to risk assessments of the in-possession policy in collaboration with the Pharmacy Team.
  • Be professionally accountable for individual practice, working within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records on the clinical IT system, in accordance with NMC guidance.
  • Provide statistical reports on clinical activity as required.
  • Employ advanced clinical decision-making and triage skills in deciding which clinical pathway fits the needs of prisoners at first contact.
  • Ensure that prisoners who require emergency transfer are assessed using the Medical Early Warning Score, appropriately stabilized, and that a comprehensive handover is given to paramedics.
