About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacist to join our growing and forward-thinking department as a Band 8a Advanced Cancer Services Pharmacist.

As an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist, you will be involved in providing a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to adult cancer in-patients, day-case, and outpatients.

You will work as an advanced practitioner in line with the RPS Faculty Advanced Clinical Framework within the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership & management, education & research, with core capabilities in a specific area of clinical competence.

About the Department

The pharmacy departments have a good mix of staff, including Pharmacy Support Workers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, Administrative and Clerical staff, and students.

The cancer pharmacy team is one of the largest specialty pharmacy teams within the Trust. The team provides a range of services, including a clinical pharmacy service to in-patients, outpatients, the cancer day treatment units across three hospital sites, and a mobile chemotherapy unit; non-medical prescribing; education and training, as well as essential clinical pharmacy services for the delivery of SACT across the organisation.

The Trust and the ICS have recognised the significant and meaningful impact that the cancer pharmacist team has on cancer care delivery and has approved further expansion of the team as a result.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to adult cancer in-patients, day-case, and outpatients.
  • Work as an advanced practitioner in line with the RPS Faculty Advanced Clinical Framework.
  • Develop and extend clinical and managerial skills at an advanced level.
  • Contribute to the development of the pharmacy workforce and support professional development.
  • Participate in audit and risk management activities.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Degree
  • Registration as a Pharmacist with the GPC
  • Postgraduate clinical diploma and/or equivalent experience
  • Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Oncology and/or equivalent experience
  • Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing Course Supervisory management
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • MI training
  • Middle management training
  • Mentoring and/or teaching experience
  • Medicines Information experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitudes
  • Excellent clinical pharmacy knowledge of cancer (haematology and oncology)
  • Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets
  • Good written, including reporting, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan and co-ordinate own work and that of others (time management)
  • Good interpersonal skills, including influencing and negotiation skills
  • Good management of change skills
  • Genuine concern for staff and patient welfare
  • Flexibility
