Senior Oncology Pharmacist

Lincoln, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

The pharmacy department comprises a diverse team, including Pharmacy Support Workers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, Administrative and Clerical staff, and students.

The oncology pharmacy team stands out as one of the largest specialized pharmacy teams within the organization. This team delivers a comprehensive array of services, such as clinical pharmacy support for in-patients, outpatients, and cancer day treatment units across multiple hospital locations, along with a mobile chemotherapy unit. Additionally, the team engages in non-medical prescribing, educational initiatives, and essential clinical pharmacy services for the administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) throughout the organization.

The Trust and the Integrated Care System (ICS) have acknowledged the significant and impactful role that the oncology pharmacy team plays in cancer care delivery, leading to the approval for further team expansion.

Role Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated, highly motivated, and proactive Pharmacist with prior experience in cancer services to join our progressive department as a Band 8a Senior Oncology Pharmacist. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services to adult cancer in-patients, day-case patients, and outpatients.

As an advanced practitioner, you will operate in accordance with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Faculty Advanced Clinical Framework, focusing on the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, while demonstrating core competencies in a specific area of clinical expertise.

We will provide a thorough induction covering all aspects of the role, along with support from senior pharmacy personnel and an environment conducive to professional growth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enhance and expand their clinical and managerial skills at an advanced level.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will embody the Trust's principles and values, possess exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and have experience in hospital pharmacy within cancer services, preferably in an acute care setting. Innovative ideas for enhancing service delivery and patient care are highly valued. Experience in conducting audits and managing risks is also essential.

The department is committed to fostering the professional development of the entire pharmacy workforce. We actively encourage and support postgraduate cancer training, Non-Medical Prescribing training, and Leadership and Management training for this role.

Benefits

In return, we will support your personal and professional development, allowing you to be an integral part of our team. The NHS offers a competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave, pension schemes, and a wide range of NHS discounts.
