Overview of the Role

As a Volunteer Coordination Manager within Hestia, you will be instrumental in our Volunteering Team. Your efforts will have a direct effect on the lives of those we serve, guiding them towards empowerment and independence.

Each day will present unique challenges and responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing the volunteer coordinators who support our Domestic Abuse services.
  • Recruiting, coordinating, and mentoring volunteers in alignment with Hestia's recruitment policies.
  • Compiling and presenting reports on the impact and success of our volunteering initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Organizing celebratory events and forums for women in our Domestic Abuse services, collaborating with partners and stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the triennial renewal of our Investors in Volunteering accreditation alongside the Head of Volunteering.
  • Ensuring our recruitment and retention practices meet the standards set by the Investors in Volunteering Accreditation Programme.
  • Encouraging Hestia's operational teams to creatively integrate volunteers into their services.
  • Motivating service users to engage in volunteering opportunities.
  • Building partnerships with external organizations and businesses to create opportunities for women and children in our Domestic Abuse services.
  • Gathering feedback from volunteers regarding their experiences through satisfaction surveys.
  • Promoting Hestia and our volunteering opportunities within the broader community.
  • Maintaining accurate administrative records in accordance with Hestia's reporting requirements.
  • Staying informed about new legislation related to volunteering.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Volunteer Manager.
  • Supporting the implementation of new volunteer data management systems.

  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects within deadlines and budgets.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Skills in providing guidance and support to staff, volunteers, and service users in a professional manner.
  • Experience in team collaboration, offering professional advice to drive projects from inception to completion.
  • Some background in recruiting and supervising staff or volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage warmly with individuals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and evaluation abilities.
  • Awareness of cultural, social, and health issues relevant to our service users, particularly those affected by Domestic Abuse.
  • Capacity to build relationships with a diverse range of external partners.
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them appropriately.
