Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in providing expert clinical services to patients with head and neck cancer and voice disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist speech and language therapy services to patients with head and neck cancer and voice disorders.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Conduct assessments and provide interventions to improve communication and swallowing skills.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the continuous development of the service.
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
- Health and Care Professions Council license to practice.
- Post-graduate training in dysphagia and specialist short courses in voice and head and neck.
- Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks Voice, H&N.
- Significant post-qualification experience of working with patients with head and neck cancer and voice disorders.
- Independent management in rehabilitation of laryngectomy, including surgical voice restoration, communication and swallowing.
- Independent management of complex dysphagia.
- Videofluoroscopy competencies.
- Independent management of tracheostomy.
- Clinical experience of voice therapy, including use of various assessment and therapeutic techniques.
- Experience of MDT working, including participation in combined clinics.
- Experience in training to other professionals.
- Experience in the supervision of SLT students/junior therapists/assistants.
- Experience of audit/clinical governance to monitor/improve service.
- Experience of working with clients from multicultural backgrounds and working with interpreters.
