ROLE SUMMARY:
The Media Control Room (MCR) serves as the core of Girl&Bear studios. Our MCR team plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the studio, offering editorial support and managing assets for our editors, motion graphics artists, and post-production professionals. The MCR team is involved in every phase of our post-production process, including the ingestion and transcoding of footage, file preparation and distribution, audio/video synchronization, quality assurance of final outputs, encoding for delivery, media management, and archiving.
A position within MCR is an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their careers in post-production. It offers exposure to various facets of the industry, serving as a training ground to develop essential technical skills. You will collaborate with Editors, Producers, and Creative teams, gaining insights into the intricacies of content creation within a successful creative agency.
The MCR environment is dynamic, often characterized by high workloads and tight deadlines. As an MCR Operator and Edit Assistant, you will need to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining flexible and proactive. Weekend shifts may be required as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Encoding and converting media across various systems
- Delivering files in multiple formats that adhere to specific delivery standards and specifications (audio & video)
- Managing the ingestion and backup of file-based camera media
- Overseeing media management and project consolidation
- Creating and delivering broadcast files for distribution to playout providers
- Conducting quality checks on video files to ensure compliance with broadcast standards
- Providing editorial and workflow support to studio operators as needed
- Archiving completed projects
- Preparing and setting up edit suites when necessary
- Offering technical support to editors or escalating issues to the technical team as required
- Coordinating with resource teams and post producers to provide progress updates
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic understanding of video, image, and audio file formats, codecs, and standards
- Familiarity with post-production workflows
- Experience with Adobe Premiere
- Proficiency in video processing tools and software, including encoding and transcoding applications
- Knowledge of proxy workflows for offline and online editing is a plus
- Experience with Adobe After Effects and DaVinci Resolve is advantageous
- Experience in quality checking video files for broadcast compliance is preferred
- Ability to interpret automated quality control software reports
- Experience in reading waveform monitors and audio meters is desirable
- Graphic design experience or education is a plus
