Role Overview: The Community Safety Officer is responsible for managing the effects of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and disturbances affecting residents and stakeholders within the community. This role requires the application of suitable enforcement measures, negotiation skills, and practical expertise during both standard and non-standard working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, investigate, and address violations of relevant legislation through appropriate advisory communications, warnings, notices, and legal proceedings in line with established policies and regulations.
  2. Engage in investigations of ASB incidents outside of regular working hours, collaborating with law enforcement and other relevant organizations.
  3. Maintain an updated repository of case law and policies to ensure comprehensive knowledge regarding noise nuisance legislation and best practices.
  4. Collect witness statements and gather evidence to support investigations and legal actions.
  5. Assist in the Council's emergency planning and response efforts in accordance with established procedures.
  6. Support the drafting and enforcement of legal notices under applicable legislation, ensuring compliance with the objectives of the role.
  7. Conduct follow-ups on both informal and formal actions taken, monitoring progress and determining subsequent steps.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines (e.g., Housing Act 2004).
  • Proven experience in investigating ASB complaints and implementing appropriate follow-up measures.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a local authority, council, or housing association setting.

Contract Details:

This position is offered as an initial three-month contract with the potential for extension. The role is full-time, operating Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with occasional out-of-hours work required.
