Position Overview

North Star Housing Group is excited to announce an opening for the role of Director of Assets, Property & Sustainability. This pivotal position is essential as the organization enters a transformative phase aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, responsible for steering significant changes and facilitating organizational growth. The primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Overseeing asset management, maintenance, and sustainability initiatives while ensuring adherence to regulatory and legislative standards.
  • Collaborating effectively across Property Services, Compliance, and Assets to enhance service delivery to clients.
  • Utilizing data and insights to evolve services and make informed investment decisions regarding property needs.
  • Ensuring value for money through meticulous budget management, financial oversight, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading strategic asset management efforts to guarantee high-quality and cost-effective service delivery, supported by reliable data and advanced knowledge of stock conditions.
  • Formulating investment strategies that optimize stock utilization, including conducting thorough option appraisals based on qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Supervising the provision of responsive and high-performing repair services, ensuring they meet customer expectations while effectively managing contractor relationships.
  • Overseeing the execution of annual maintenance and compliance services for stock investment.
  • Advancing a green strategy to minimize carbon emissions and retrofitting properties to align with government targets, while maximizing grant opportunities through partnerships.
  • Managing relevant data through focused collection and high-quality analysis to support effective decision-making.
  • Implementing and maintaining a robust contract management framework that ensures value for money.
  • Leading efforts in regulatory compliance and health and safety, ensuring North Star adheres to all standards while providing quality training and regular policy reviews.
  • Participating in board meetings and presenting necessary information as required.
  • Fostering a culture of budget accountability and value for money through rigorous budget management.
  • Collaborating with various departments on risk management, performance evaluation, complaint resolution, and budget oversight.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a complex, regulated environment related to property or asset management.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience within a housing association or related industry.
  • Expertise in developing and executing strategic plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgetary control.
