Position Overview

North Star Housing Group is excited to announce an opening for the role of Director of Assets, Property & Sustainability. This position is a vital strategic appointment that will play a key role in guiding the organization through its upcoming phase of growth and transformation, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for the communities we serve.

This newly established role is crucial for the Senior Leadership team, focusing on:

  • Overseeing asset management, maintenance, and sustainability initiatives while ensuring adherence to regulatory and legislative standards.
  • Collaborating across Property Services, Compliance, and Assets to enhance the delivery of superior services to our clientele.
  • Utilizing insights and data to evolve services and make informed investment decisions regarding property needs.
  • Ensuring value for money through effective budget management, financial oversight, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all facets of strategic asset management, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective services, supported by reliable data and advanced knowledge of stock conditions.
  • Formulate investment strategies that optimize stock utilization, including conducting thorough option appraisals that consider both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Supervise the provision of a comprehensive, responsive, and high-performing repair service, ensuring efficiency and alignment with customer expectations. Manage contractor relationships and partnerships effectively.
  • Oversee the execution of annual maintenance and compliance services for stock investment.
  • Advance the organization’s green strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions and retrofitting properties to meet governmental targets, maximizing grant opportunities through collaborations.
  • Manage relevant data through meticulous collection and high-quality analysis to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain a robust contract management framework that ensures value for money.
  • Lead on compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, particularly concerning health and safety, ensuring that North Star adheres to all standards. Provide high-quality training and regularly review policies.
  • Participate in board meetings, providing necessary information as required.
  • Foster a culture of budget accountability and value for money through rigorous budget controls and constructive challenges.
  • Collaborate with various organizational teams on activities related to risk management, performance, complaints, and budget oversight.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a complex and regulated environment related to property, assets, or property investment.
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level within a housing association or related industry.
  • Expertise in developing and executing strategic plans with a track record of delivering results.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
