Position Overview

North Star Housing Group is excited to announce an opening for the role of Director of Assets, Property & Sustainability. This pivotal position is designed for a dynamic leader who will play a crucial role in steering the organization through its next phase of growth and transformation.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, responsible for driving strategic initiatives that enhance the value and quality of services provided to our customers. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing asset management, maintenance, and sustainability efforts while ensuring adherence to regulatory and legislative standards.
  • Collaborating across departments such as Property Services, Compliance, and Assets to enhance service delivery.
  • Utilizing data-driven insights to inform investment decisions and improve service evolution.
  • Ensuring effective budget management and procurement processes to deliver value for money.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic asset management initiatives, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery supported by accurate data and knowledge of stock conditions.
  • Formulate investment strategies that optimize stock utilization, including conducting thorough option appraisals based on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Manage the delivery of responsive and high-performing repair services, ensuring alignment with customer needs and effective contractor management.
  • Supervise the execution of annual maintenance and compliance services for stock investment.
  • Advance the organization’s green strategy to minimize carbon emissions and retrofit properties to meet governmental standards, while maximizing grant opportunities.
  • Oversee data management processes to facilitate informed decision-making through meticulous collection and analysis.
  • Implement a contract management framework that ensures cost-effectiveness and value delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and health and safety standards, providing training and regular policy reviews.
  • Participate in board meetings, providing necessary information and insights.
  • Foster a culture of financial accountability and value for money through diligent budget management.
  • Collaborate with various teams on risk management, performance evaluation, and budget oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a complex, regulated environment related to property and asset management.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience within a housing association or related industry.
  • Expertise in developing and executing strategic plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgetary oversight.
