Role Overview
The Bridge Project collaborates with Project 6 and Humankind, and under this partnership, New Vision Bradford was initiated. This collaboration provides an adult substance misuse service for the Bradford and Craven District, focusing on assisting individuals in addressing alcohol and drug misuse while minimizing risk-taking behaviors through targeted prevention, intervention, and support.
We are currently seeking a Substance Misuse Support Specialist. If you possess the necessary skills for this role, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. This is a permanent, part-time position requiring travel across various service sites in Bradford, thus a valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes are mandatory.
This position is a vital component of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to offering support to individuals impacted by another person's substance misuse. Depending on individual needs, you will conduct brief interventions, assess needs and risks including safeguarding, deliver a structured program of personalized support, and facilitate onward referrals and exit planning. This role is critical, and the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with concerned individuals, who may occasionally be in distress. Strong listening and communication skills are essential to provide information and practical/emotional support to concerned individuals, both in person and via telephone.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in a social and/or healthcare environment, managing a caseload.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual in this field, who approaches their work positively and engagingly. You should be highly organized, capable of managing your time efficiently, and adept at responding to internal referrals to ensure the delivery of high-quality service, while applying your knowledge of the challenges faced by concerned individuals or those with substance misuse issues. A solid understanding of mental health interventions, services, and best practices is preferred.
Flexibility in working hours is required for this role. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check is also a prerequisite.
