Position Overview
The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer is a dynamic and empathetic nursing leader with substantial experience at the Director or Deputy Director level, possessing a strong background in supporting and acting in executive and Board-level capacities.
This role requires a highly organized, collaborative individual dedicated to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care, ensuring optimal outcomes for every patient across the organization.
The successful candidate will engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to connect with a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer and other executive team members.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the consistent provision of high-quality, safe, and effective care, delivering an excellent patient experience and optimal outcomes across all areas of the organization.
- Leading the development of a comprehensive Safeguarding Service by guiding the Associate Director of Safeguarding to ensure a safe and effective service.
- Providing strategic direction for the professional educational initiatives for Paramedics, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals, while supporting the advancement of a research agenda.
- Offering strategic leadership to the governance support service.
- Overseeing the Trust's Quality and Safety Strategy and associated frameworks, ensuring that clinical governance is multidisciplinary, locally managed, and provides assurance of safe and effective patient care, with reporting mechanisms from frontline to Board level.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- First Level Registered Nurse.
- Master’s degree in Clinical or Managerial studies.
- Completion of an NHS or equivalent Leadership Programme for current or aspiring Directors.
- Proven clinical leadership experience at Director or Deputy Director level.
- Extensive knowledge in key areas, including quality improvement, patient experience, risk management, and assurance.
- Expert understanding of integrated governance and clinical quality strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational challenges.
Desirable
- Master’s level qualification in Research, Education, or Patient Safety.
