Job Title: Harmonised Ethernet Network Specialist

As a key member of the BT Group team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing harmonised Ethernet network solutions that meet the business requirements of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out feasibility and rapid impact assessments to inform business cases.
  • Develop high and low-level designs for network platforms and customer solutions.
  • Design, validate, and test innovative network solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Ensure security capabilities are built into network designs from the outset.
  • Provide technical guidance to teams to ensure smooth delivery of changes to live environments.
  • Act as a point of contact for technical expertise to senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with others, and be an advanced user of design tools.
  • Encourage network designers to identify opportunities to follow design best practice.
  • Propose technical strategies for network platforms in conjunction with platform managers.
Requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of network design principles and practice.
  • Knowledge of Optical, Ethernet, and Mobile Backhaul Technologies, IP, and VPN.
  • In-life problem resolution and performance.
  • Be inquisitive and challenging.
  • Practicing or emerging DevOps Engineer who understands software and network combinations to a practitioner level.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering, and a member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IET).
Experience:
  • Accomplished and experienced network designer.
  • Successful track record of leading complex design deliveries, including initial feasibilities and proof of concepts.
  • Delivering on time and to budget.
  • Leading teams through significant change and developing an innovative, challenging, and supportive team culture.
  • Knowledge of the commercial marketplace, including technical innovations that could drive market growth and revenue.
