Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Safeguarding Lead at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick Garrison. As a key member of the Welfare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel, both military and civilian, within the Centre.

Key Responsibilities

As the designated Safeguarding Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Assuming a Higher Executive Officer role focused on Safeguarding Policy and Disclosure and Barring Service clearance casework.
  • Representing the Infantry Training Centre at relevant meetings and ensuring that all personnel have the correct clearance for their roles.
  • Delivering Safeguarding responsibilities presentations and training on all induction training, and when required, within the Unit.
  • Leading on Infantry Training Centre Safeguarding Policy and ensuring that the Centre has appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service clearances in place.
  • Attending meetings as the Infantry Training Centre Safeguarding representative and conducting Assurance on Safeguarding as required.
Person Specification

We are seeking an exceptional individual who possesses:

  • Enhanced D&BS check as part of the on-boarding process.
  • A designated Safeguard or Local Authority Designated Officer qualifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills due to regular interaction at senior levels.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Initiative and the ability to proactively identify emerging issues and find solutions.
  • Awareness of mental health issues and Local Authority Designated Officer referral process.
