Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Officer to join the Army Commercial Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Army's procurement strategy and ensuring the effective management of contracts.

Job Description

The Army Commercial Team is responsible for managing a portfolio of contracts worth over £5 billion, with a focus on innovation, research, and experimentation. As a Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for undertaking pre-sourcing, sourcing, and contract management activities to enable innovation and support the Army's commercial objectives.

You will work closely with the Army Commercial Senior Executive Officer and the Assistant Head Army Commercial Innovation Lead to acquire an extensive knowledge of the current and potential supplier market. You will also be responsible for providing early and ongoing commercial advice and technical leadership to stakeholders, establishing and maintaining positive working relationships within the Army and with external partners.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the procurement process and contract management, with the ability to produce and analyse data to inform decisions. You will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the function.

The desirable criteria for this role are:

  • Practitioner of MoD's CP&F Enterprise System
  • Experience of working in the public sector or in industry dealing with the public sector
