Position Title: Family Support Specialist in Sustaining Phase

Salary: £20,316 to £23,316
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend availability required to meet the needs of service users)

Benefits: 30 days of Annual Leave (increasing to 35 days with length of service) plus Bank Holidays, Company Pension, Life Assurance at 2x salary, and an Employee Discount Scheme

Base Location: Mansfield, with a hybrid working model of 2 days per week in the office (Note: This is a community-based role requiring travel to various locations)

About Polaris Children's Services:
Polaris Children's Services is a well-established provider of children's services, dedicated to delivering innovative and outcome-focused support that adds real value and fosters brighter futures for children, young people, and families.

Role Overview:
In collaboration with the Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and Derby regions, the STARS program offers intensive assistance to children and young people transitioning from residential care to fostering placements, stabilizing current fostering arrangements, facilitating reunification with families, and preventing children and young people from entering care.

Key Requirements:
- This is a community role; therefore, candidates must be able to travel within the designated areas.
- Experience in working with children and families in home visiting capacities or delivering parenting programs is essential.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a professional network, including foster carers, social workers, and educational institutions, to advocate for the needs and preferences of families.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development to enhance skills as a Family Support Specialist and to implement evidence-based therapeutic programs.
- Residency in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, or Derby is required to facilitate community visits.
- A full driving license and unrestricted access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.

Responsibilities:
- Provide support to families engaged in the Cohort C Reunification and Cohort D Edge of Care programs.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic programs to parents and caregivers within the community to promote placement stability.
- Actively listen and respond with sensitivity to children, young people, and their families to facilitate positive change.
- Maintain regular contact with children, young people, and their families through face-to-face and telephone interactions.
- Ensure that services delivered uphold principles of equality, diversity, and individual rights for all associated with the service.
- Adhere to the service delivery model as outlined in the Operating Manual.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families, ensuring a cohesive approach to service delivery.
