Job Description

Job Title: Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant / Associate Professor)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to join our team as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant / Associate Professor). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and research, as well as contributing to the development of our academic programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Research: Deliver high-quality teaching and research in electrical and electronics engineering, with a focus on developing and sustaining personal and group research aligned with the teaching and the School/College/University.
  • Leadership and Management: Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of high-quality teaching, supervision and assessment activities across under/postgraduate programmes within the Subject/School.
  • Research and Scholarship: Establish and sustain a track record of independent and joint publications of international quality in high-quality refereed journals, generating research impact in terms of economic/societal benefit.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Develop and maintain collaborations with colleagues across the School/College/University and external Academic and Industrial Partners.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and design of under/postgraduate curricula, to ensure a research-led approach to student learning and assessment in the discipline and/or profession.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage a variety of academic administrative activities, including timely delivery of effective and constructive feedback on assessment, and provision of pastoral support.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 [PhD] or equivalent in a related discipline with a growing reputation for scholarship within the subject area.
  • Experience: A developing national/international reputation, evidenced by esteem indicators, in a field that matches or enhances existing activities within the School.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex data/concepts clearly and concisely. Appropriate workload/time/project/budget/people management skills. Extensive IT and data analysis/interpretation skills.
  • Personal Qualities: A strong commitment to high-quality, research-led, student-oriented teaching and proven ability to engage students to inspire learning, and to provide pastoral care to students. Excellent leadership skills, able to develop early career academic colleagues and manage a research team.
