Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced administrator to join our Screening Midwives team as an Antenatal and Newborn Screening Administrator. This is a full-time position that involves cross-site working at our Andover, Winchester, and Basingstoke locations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Undertake daily audits of blood samples sent for fetal anomaly screening, maintain an Excel spreadsheet of all results, and send out letters and results to women.
  • Update the database for sickle cell and thalassemia screening, communicate problem samples to the relevant teams, and follow up results.
  • Check and update the national failsafe database for newborn blood spot screening and communicate requests for repeat samples to the community midwifery teams and follow up results.
  • Check and update the national newborn physical examination failsafe database, communicate delayed screening to the relevant team, and update the failsafe for babies requiring hip scans.
  • Assist the ANNB Screening Coordinator by undertaking a monthly audit to ensure the booking cohort of women have completed screening for infectious disease and sickle cell and thalassemia.
  • Assist the ANNB Screening Coordinator by undertaking a weekly audit to ensure the booking cohort have completed fetal anomaly screening.
  • Assist the ANNB screening coordinator in collating quarterly and annually data for all antenatal and newborn screening programs.
  • Assist with the general day-to-day running of the service by checking the shared email account, answering telephone enquiries, photocopying, ordering stock, and collecting notes.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and show compassion to women in challenging situations.

Job Requirements
  • Maths and English GCSE A-C or equivalent
  • Commitment to undertake further training/NVQ level 3
  • Good IT skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Administrative qualification
  • Previous experience of similar administrative role
  • Current NHS experience
  • Previous or current experience in Maternity
