Join Our Team as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

We are thrilled to offer a rewarding opportunity within a leading SEN institution. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in fostering an enriching educational atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the educational development of young learners.
  • Assist students in reaching their Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) objectives.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Promote improvements in student attendance, academic performance, and overall achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with students to enhance their educational and life skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Professional Growth:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to adapt learning strategies for individual needs.
  • Highly organized and self-driven.
  • Competent in using technology for educational purposes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork and cooperation with various stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of current Disability/SEN theories and practices, particularly concerning Autism.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Awareness of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Dedication to inclusive practices that enhance student attendance, performance, and success.

Essential Training and Skills:

  • Training in ADHD and Autism.
  • Trauma-informed training.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in child safeguarding.
  • Behavioral Intervention (BI) training.
  • Teaching assistant qualifications - Level 2 / 3 in teaching and learning or equivalent.
  • Childcare certifications.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Mental and physical fitness evaluation.
  • Makaton training.
  • Valid driving license (due to rural location).
