Position Overview

The role of Commercial Officer is situated within the Commercial Function of the Resource Division at UK Export Finance.

This division is responsible for a variety of essential business services, including (1) overseeing personnel-related functions throughout the employee lifecycle; (2) ensuring cyber and personnel security to protect our workforce and assets; (3) managing our facilities and estate needs; and (4) executing commercial activities through our newly established Commercial Function, which emphasizes prudent procurement practices and fostering strong supplier relationships.

The strategic focus of the Division is on addressing key workforce challenges, aiming to cultivate a highly engaged team operating within a culture of ongoing development. We prioritize equipping our staff with the necessary skills and support to thrive in their roles, while also valuing the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that each colleague contributes to UK Export Finance.

The Commercial Officer position plays a vital role within this newly formed team, which is tasked with overseeing the commercial strategies and procurement initiatives across UK Export Finance.

The successful candidate will provide support to the entire team and collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers, and other essential personnel to facilitate the daily management of inquiries, processes, and communications. As the primary point of contact for the team, the role holder will take ownership of inquiries and ensure activities are completed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate secretariat functions for governance activities.
  • Respond to inquiries and distribute documents as necessary.
  • Maintain and update the 'Commercial Hub' site with relevant information and updates.
  • Manage documentation related to commercial policies, guidelines, and templates.
  • Assist in reviewing the commercial pipeline and providing business updates.
  • Coordinate updates to critical documents, including risk registers and business continuity plans.
  • Support contract data management on the Atamis eSourcing platform (training will be provided).
  • Engage in policy-related activities, including research support.
  • Manage diaries as required.
  • Plan and organize meetings, including minute-taking.
  • Prepare documentation for meetings.
  • Organize events and prepare presentations.
  • Type various documents as needed.
  • Arrange travel and accommodation when necessary.
  • Welcome visitors of all seniority levels.
  • Liaise with other government departments and staff.
  • Manage invoices and perform general administrative tasks as required.
