London, Greater London, United Kingdom Central London Community Health Trust Full time

Position Overview

Central London Community Health Trust is dedicated to delivering a variety of community health services, and we are currently seeking to expand our team.

Part-time Community Lymphoedema Nurse Band 6

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a qualified nurse to become part of our specialized lymphoedema service on a part-time basis.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in assessing and treating both primary and secondary lymphoedema. However, we are also open to considering registered general nurses with experience in community healthcare.

Most patient care is conducted in a nurse-led clinic environment, allowing for a degree of independence. Additionally, our team provides home visits for patients who are unable to travel. Therefore, candidates must hold a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Assessing and managing patients with various forms of lymphoedema, taking responsibility for an individual caseload under the guidance of a lead practitioner.
  • Planning and delivering care for complex cases, which encompasses skin care, exercise regimens, compression therapy, and self-management techniques.
  • Assisting in the prevention of chronic oedema complications, including infections and skin issues, while developing specialized knowledge to support staff and patients.
  • Contributing to the delivery of a comprehensive lymphoedema service.
  • Providing training and education on chronic oedema management to patients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members.

The overarching goal of our service is to empower patients in managing their long-term conditions by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools for effective self-management.

Many of our patients have lived with this intricate condition for extended periods without adequate support or diagnosis. We are committed to being part of their journey, witnessing positive transformations while fostering meaningful relationships with our patients.

You will be welcomed into a supportive and friendly team within a large NHS community trust, where professional guidance is readily available, and both personal and professional development are actively encouraged.

About Us

We prioritize the well-being of our patients as much as we do our staff.

We offer:

  • A thorough induction into our community services, followed by a tailored local orientation.
  • A car lease scheme (terms and conditions apply).
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Annual travel card loan options.
  • Opportunities for training, support, and career development.

For a comprehensive overview of our benefits and insights into working with us, please refer to our official resources.

Job Responsibilities

To provide and enhance specialized guidance on best practices related to all aspects of lymphoedema management, adhering to both local and national standards for staff, patients, and caregivers. To ensure compliance with the NMC or HPC Code of Professional Conduct and the trust's policies and procedures. To cultivate and maintain effective relationships with patients, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to promote patient autonomy and choice. To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate complex clinical care holistically, making appropriate referrals as necessary.
