Technical Leadership Manager Role at Leonardo

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in Engineering Leadership?

We are excited to present a unique opportunity for a Technical Leadership Manager within the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) division of Leonardo. This position is designed for a professional who will guide and manage a team of Systems and Software engineers, working closely with the Chief Engineer and Senior Engineering Manager to define, develop, and implement innovative technical solutions. Key responsibilities also include nurturing the Engineering Team through mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations.

This position offers a combination of office-based and hybrid working options.

As a Technical Leadership Manager in IMS at Leonardo, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all engineering dimensions of the Product/Project to ensure adherence to technical quality, timelines, and budget constraints while aligning solutions with the Sector's strategic objectives
  • Leading cross-functional, multi-site engineering teams, ensuring clear role definitions and responsibilities
  • Building strong relationships with clients and partners to deliver product/project capabilities effectively
  • Facilitating efficient internal communication with the Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT), IPT lead, Project Manager, and Heads of Function
  • Establishing clear engineering objectives for the team and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Collaborating closely with the Systems Design Authority to keep them updated on technical progress, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Ensuring that design solutions are user-focused, reliable, well-documented, and operational in their intended environments
  • Managing project configurations and changes to enhance design reuse
  • Supervising suppliers and making informed decisions regarding project sourcing
  • Gathering candidate concept solutions, conducting trade-off studies, and engaging with end users
  • Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Degree in Engineering or a related scientific field (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in delivering engineering projects
  • Ability to produce clear and concise engineering plans
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and effective team collaboration
  • Proficient management of complex scenarios
  • Commercial awareness and business insight
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • Experience throughout the entire development lifecycle and in eliciting software product requirements
