Role Overview

Colas is entrusted with the eight-year Maintenance & Response contract for the local Road Network. This contract encompasses various maintenance activities within the designated area. We are seeking skilled Roadway Maintenance Technicians with HGV Class 2 driving licenses to join our team. You will be stationed at our operational depot and will work collaboratively to perform essential maintenance duties, including winter operations and emergency responses when necessary. Your tasks will include Patching, Traffic Management, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate maintenance, Street Furniture Repair, and more.

Key Responsibilities

As a Roadway Maintenance Technician, your role will involve a variety of maintenance tasks to uphold the integrity of the highway infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Gully Emptying and Winter Maintenance
  • Performing Sweeping & Cleaning Activities
  • Executing Soft Estate Clearance and Traffic Management
  • Collaborating closely with team members to ensure Health & Safety compliance
  • Participating in incident management and winter service operations
  • Utilizing Colas equipment and ensuring vehicle safety checks
  • Managing administrative duties, including timesheet collation and resource tracking
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by management

Maintaining a professional demeanor that positively represents the company is essential. Flexibility to work nights and participate in on-call rotas for winter maintenance and emergency situations is required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidates will possess a HGV Class 2 Licence, which is crucial for the role due to the emphasis on winter maintenance. A full UK driving licence is also necessary. While experience in Highways Maintenance and relevant qualifications (such as NRSWA, TM, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate) are advantageous, they are not mandatory.

We are looking for individuals with a proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and diverse weather conditions.
