About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Sustainability Manager to lead our strategy for waste and recycling across all of Morrisons. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of procurement practices and a passion for sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive waste and recycling strategy that aligns with Morrisons' sustainability goals.
  • Manage costs and income across all waste categories, including general waste, food waste, specialist/hazardous waste, card, and plastic.
  • Drive waste mitigation and/or recycling solutions to support the business in meeting its Zero General Waste Target.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and sustainability strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure effective procurement practices.
  • Deliver on our plan to reduce general waste volumes through innovative solutions and processes.
  • Get the most value possible from all waste streams and turn net spend into income, while minimizing costs.
  • Manage categories and source strategic suppliers to support business needs.
  • Contract and contract management to minimize risk to the company.
About You

We are looking for an experienced procurement professional with a strong track record in the industry. You will need:

  • Ability to define a clear strategy and execute it with the support of the team.
  • Ability to evaluate, review, and challenge business cases and complex commercial proposals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in procurement within a large complex organization.
  • Developing and implementing category management practices and strategies.
  • Supplier relationship management.
  • Commercial and contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Procurement project management.
  • Relationship building and influencing at all levels to drive business and commercial benefits.
