Prison Officer Role Overview

As a Prison Officer with Serco, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners, staff, and visitors in our prisons. Your contribution will be instrumental in reducing reoffending rates amongst prisoners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity, promoting a structured and supportive environment.
  • Oversee work and education programs, encouraging prisoners to participate and develop valuable skills.
  • Operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, prison cell searching, security, and administrative processes will be your responsibility.
  • Manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm, providing a safe and supportive environment.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 4, and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and satisfactory employment references. You will be required to provide 5 years of employment and education history as part of these checks.
