Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teaching Fellow to join our team in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and advising undergraduate, postgraduate, and CPD students within their subject area, as well as contributing to the design, delivery, and assessment of programs.
Main Duties- Develop curricula, CPD, and modules in Civil Engineering, infrastructure, restoration, and rehabilitation of structures and critical infrastructures according to the program.
- Develop the Massive Open Online Course and similar Technology Enhanced Learning materials, CPDSs, and deliver materials for Microcredentials as described by the program.
- Supervise research and educational activities relevant to the program.
- Travel to Ukraine to identify and assist Ukrainian universities in updating existing or developing new syllabuses.
- Pursue personal research, including developing research ideas, and acquiring support for the MOOC, CPDs, Microcredentials, and other education-related activities of the program.
- Supervise and examine MSc students, promoting a culture of inclusion and diversity.
- Develop and contribute to knowledge transfer, enterprise, business engagement, public engagement, widening participation, and outreach while promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Develop new taught modules in structure and infrastructure engineering and program proposals, incorporating EDI principles.
- Teach courses at various levels within the specified subject area and own area of subject specialism to undergraduates, postgraduates, and CPD students.
- Plan and prepare own teaching, including guidance notes and handouts, in accordance with the established objectives of the teaching program.
- Devise and supervise projects, student dissertations, and practical work.
- Develop an approach to planning and reviewing own teaching.
- Undertake full range of responsibilities in relation to supervision, marking, and examining.
- Undertake personal professional development in teaching, including self-reflection on own teaching, using student and peer review feedback, to enhance own teaching and learning processes.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer on own specialism that is of manifest benefit to the College and the University.
- Undertake management/administration arising from teaching.
- Contribute to Departmental/School teaching-related activities and teaching-related administration.
- Contribute to enterprise, business development, and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University.
- Promote equality and values diversity, acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.
- Fluent in Ukrainian and English (desirable for the delivery of the project).
- Hold a PhD in Civil and/or Structure and/or Infrastructure and/or Environmental Engineering and/or Architecture.
- Higher degree relevant to research or teaching area or equivalent qualifications.
