About the Role

The NHS England is seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to fill the position of Training Programme Director for Dental Core Training. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality dental training in the South West region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the South West Dental Core Training Programme, ensuring that national standards and regional guidelines are met.
  • Manage specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Recruit to training posts and programmes, ensuring that the best candidates are selected for the role.
  • Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, and remediation, OOP management, trainee management, careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training, and other related work-streams.
Requirements
  • Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health).
  • Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or should have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role.
  • Experience of working with learners and dentists in training in an educational context.
  • Experience of clinical and educational leadership, including across multi-professional teams.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma, or Master's in education.
  • Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
