Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Postgraduate Dental team in the South West as a Training Programme Director (TPD) in Dental Core Training (DCT). The role of Training Programme Director is to work closely with the Postgraduate Dean and Associate Dean in driving the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee the South West Dental Core Training Programme
  • Specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
  • Recruitment to training posts and programmes
  • Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training and other related work-streams.
About the Role

The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of dental training across the region and who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.

Key Requirements
  • Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health)
  • Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or should have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
