Product Development Technologist

Westfalia Fruit Group is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Technologist to join our team in Spalding, UK.

About the Role

We are looking for a quality champion who will ensure that our products consistently exceed customer expectations. The successful candidate will actively seek to improve product safety, quality, authenticity, and legality by collaborating closely with Technical Managers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain supplier risk assessments to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
  2. Develop and manage a sampling and analysis program to monitor product quality, including microbiology, pesticide, nutritional, and organoleptic testing.
  3. Manage customer complaints and report monthly KPIs to ensure prompt resolution and continuous improvement.
  4. Conduct investigations into complaints, out-of-specification products, and results, and report findings to ensure corrective actions are taken.
  5. Ensure that suppliers have up-to-date certification and due diligence documentation, including agricultural systems and GFSI food safety.
  6. Support and schedule NPD activities, including trials, product testing, trial reports, and data collection.
  7. Complete internal audits as per the internal audit schedule to ensure compliance with company standards.
Requirements
  1. Higher education qualifications in a Food Science setting.
  2. HACCP or similar food safety qualifications.
  3. Experience with retailer and industry software systems.
  4. Trained as an Internal auditor.
  5. Understanding of the importance of product testing, including pesticide, microbiology, organoleptic, and nutritional testing.
  6. Experience working with 'ready-to-eat' products.
