About the Company: Our client is a fast-growing and successful FMCG business based in the UK. They are a fully vertically integrated business with in-house design, sales, and marketing functions, as well as a manufacturing plant and importing division, and a wholesale distribution site.
About the Role:
- Assist the Business Development Manager in driving the new product development (NPD) process.
- Conduct range reviews and gap analysis to determine new product ranges.
- Coordinate key aspects of new product launches.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing products and refine current ranges.
- Assist in sourcing and buying of finished goods and components.
- Identify market opportunities together with the Business Development Manager in selected categories and markets.
- Liaise with the NPD team on product and technical details.
- Prepare quotes and specifications for supplier meetings and procurement.
- Plan and prepare for customer and sales meetings, and assist with the presentation of product launch plans, presentations, and catalogues.
- Implement and improve current systems.
- Meet and build relationships with key customers, identifying and progressing sales opportunities.
- Meet and build relationships with key suppliers to minimize costs where possible.
- Assist in preparing customer presentations for national accounts and various UK channels.
- Involvement in the buying process and placing orders.
- Prepare marketing data to analyze performance and identify current trends for future planning.
- Maintain accurate price lists and distribute information to relevant account managers, BDMs, and Marketing.
- Complete internal documentation forms to ensure all products are priced correctly using components costing where applicable.
- Oversee coordination of logistics from plant/supplier to distribution centre.
- Communicate commercial updates to the sales team remotely at regular weekly and monthly meetings.
- Prepare and collate reports.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
- Team work is key to be able to liaise between internal departments such as Sales, Marketing, Compliance, Warehouse, and Operations.
- Detail is key as you can be involved/immersed in the NPD process and in product development from idea to prototype, presentation, then production.
- Resilience is a requirement as is an ability to demonstrate initiative when working in a team or independently.
- Flexibility due to seasonality and travel, this role is office-based, however, there will be an element of travel to customers, supplier meetings, and Trade shows.
- Extensive experience within a FMCG environment with strong knowledge of importing.
- Experience of product development, category management, and range assortment.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
