Product Manager - Fire Products

Mercury Hampton is seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the development, product approvals, and marketing of fire products in the UK and Europe, with additional support for the Middle East and Africa.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in fire pumps and related products, as well as experience in both practical and office-based roles within the building services sector.

Key responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with fire product legislation, maintaining product approvals, and overseeing quality and performance. The candidate will also be responsible for developing innovative fire products and solutions, supervising and mentoring direct reports, and staying informed about industry trends and market conditions.

The ideal candidate will have a HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering, a Professional Diploma in Business Management, and extensive technical knowledge of fire pumps and related products. They will also have a proven track record of managing deadlines and handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure compliance with fire product legislation
  • Maintain product approvals and oversee quality and performance
  • Develop innovative fire products and solutions
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports as needed
  • Stay informed about industry trends and market conditions

Key Tasks:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service in line with our clients Customer Service Charter
  • Address technical queries related to fire products for the UK and EMEA regions
  • Review and manage fire sales order entries
  • Identify components for fire pump spare quotations
  • Collaborate with Engineering on fire product matters
  • Assist Production and Planning teams with technical issues and performance
  • Participate in product development meetings for ongoing fire product enhancements
  • Support Sales teams in the UK and EMEA with product information and administrative tasks
  • Represent the client on industry bodies such as LPCB and BAFSA
  • Manage and maintain FM & LPCB product approvals and future European approvals
  • Assess training needs for team members and conduct necessary training sessions
  • Contribute to achieving departmental operating plan objectives
