About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Midwifery Continuity of Care Team Leader to join our team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Maternity Service, you will be responsible for leading and managing our Continuity Teams, ensuring a high standard of midwifery care is maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a resource to other team members.
  • Ensure effective communication with the multidisciplinary team and outside agencies to maintain a seamless care pathway for families.
  • Be the identified lead professional for low-risk women and coordinate care for high-risk women.
  • Ensure continuous risk assessment processes are in place and reviewed at every contact.
  • Champion normality, promote, and facilitate home birth services within the team.
  • Keep up to date with quality standards and guidelines within own clinical area and associated areas in accordance with Trust guidance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of work against quality standards in own area and take effective action to address this.
  • Demonstrate strong, clinical leadership in stressful and challenging situations.
  • Promote a positive approach to new challenges and adopt creative ways of working.
  • Act as an advocate for women, liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the woman and her family.
  • Ensure effective training and educational programs are available by working collaboratively with appropriate personnel to meet the training and educational needs of midwives in the clinical area.

Person Specification:

  • First Level Registration
  • Degree or working towards
  • Evidence of significant Continuing Professional Development
  • Evidence of management experience/training
  • Evidence of leadership experience/training
  • NMC recognised Teaching/Accessing qualification

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • PMA

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience at Band 6 within all aspects of Midwifery, including community
  • Experience working in a Continuity model
  • Experience working/managing a Community Midwifery Team

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Evidence of being up-to-date with current issues relating to professional practice
  • Knowledge of key national policy drivers for Acute care
  • Can demonstrate practical application of quality standards within the clinical setting
