Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the commercial aspects of projects are executed in accordance with contracts, company policies, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Effective management and issuance of accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence.
- Preparation and assessment of applications, valuations, cost/value reconciliation.
- Cost control and forecasting, including preparation and provision of monthly reports on value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow, and budget.
- Preparation and agreement of applications for payment or assessment and preparation of payment certificates.
- Project forecasting and assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimize solutions.
- Contract Management, including contractual forms, methods of budgetary control, and relevant software applications.
- Preparation of supply chain enquiries, negotiation, administration, and finalization/closure of supply chain contracts.
- Liaison with site teams, subcontractors, and customer representatives, ensuring all notifications/documents are managed in accordance with contracts and customer/company policies.
- Record-keeping, including collation of site records, preparation of meeting packs, meeting invites, and taking meeting minutes.
- Providing contractual advice to project/site teams as necessary.
- Maintaining awareness of current construction contracts and implementing relevant requirements within the discipline.
- Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen.
- Experience with NEC3.
- Demonstrable forecasting experience.
- Experience in managing subcontractors and work packages.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Practical approach, logical thought process, and methodical way of working.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively when solving problems.
- Experience with office management systems, including filing systems and document control and distribution.
- Technical minute-taking skills at contractual meetings and ability to collate information and prepare reports.
- Experience drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager and preparation of payment certificates and interim financial reports.
- Contribution to procurement and contract strategies.
- Negotiating and team-working skills, with the ability to motivate and lead.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrable legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
- Confidence and ability to assert influence.
- Hold an RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent) or be enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate Degree.
