Job Description

Position Overview

Reinsurance Group of America's Investments Department is responsible for managing the company's global portfolio of USD 90 billion across a broad range of asset classes. The Global Credit Research team plays a crucial role in the investment decision-making process for the Investment Grade public bond portfolio, which accounts for approximately 69% of the total portfolio. Credit Analysts work closely with our Global Portfolio Management, Investment Solutions, and Trading teams to proactively position the in-force portfolios and new asset-intensive transactions in response to the needs of the business while taking advantage of market opportunities. RGA has a strong focus on fundamental bottom-up credit research and underwriting on the corporate bond side; integration with our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) processes and targets is also a key investment consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced fundamental and relative value analysis on individual credits within assigned industries.
  • Produce high-quality, substantive reports that are clear and concise, and establish the strengths and challenges to a credit.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of RGA's risk tolerance through the recommendation of investment ideas that reflect risk-reward parameters appropriate to RGA's balance sheet.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity in the sourcing and synthesizing of data pertaining to all assigned credits and industries.
  • Develop productive relationships with company management, rating agency analysts, and sell-side analysts.
  • Maintain current knowledge of capital markets, investment practices, trends, and applications.
  • Initiate improvements to the credit monitoring process.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of relevant fundamental credit analysis experience, gained in an asset manager, company, rating agency, or bank.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • CFA or MBA.

Preferred:

  • Experience or qualification in ESG Investing.
  • Experience with Bloomberg and Blackrock.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced analytic skills that can be applied to quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Advanced capacity to absorb and apply information in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Experience in the optimal use of provided data resources, including Bloomberg and Blackrock.
  • High level of creativity, accountability, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines, and stressful conditions.
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.
  • Intermediate negotiating and persuasion skills.
