Job Summary: We are currently looking for a skilled Direct Technical Procurement Specialist to join our Purchasing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring, scheduling, and controlling the supply of inventory for direct products to support the on-time shipment of assembled bearings to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement and Scheduling: Procure and schedule the supply of inventory for direct products, ensuring continuity of supply within inventory targets.
  • Supplier Management: Monitor supplier performance and capacity against required output levels, and work with the Supply Chain Team to provide information and reporting.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure inventory levels are maintained at the correct levels, and identify alternatives to avoid unnecessary purchases.
  • Order Management: Schedule and follow-up purchase orders, and initiate the expedition of overdue purchase orders.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Action MRP exception reports within agreed timeframes, and provide timely clearance of imported items using the appropriate import clearance procedures.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Be seen as the subject matter expert and use this knowledge to support sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and program management.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, and support business strategy development and execution activities.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance to sourcing and contracting policies, procedures, risk management programs, and QHSE and ethics policies.
  • Documentation and Administration: Ensure that all departmental documents are filed in a timely and accurate manner.

Budgetary Responsibility:

  • Material Cost Management: Negotiate prices with suppliers, and maintain inventory at the correct levels.
  • Supplier Spending: Monitor supplier spending, and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent)
  • Certifications: CIPS qualification (or working towards/equivalent)

Skills:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop strong effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate prices with suppliers.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail, with the ability to monitor and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical Skills: Reading and understanding technical specifications and drawings, with a preference for SAP experience.
