Assistant Superintendent Radiographer for Breast Imaging Unit

Position Overview
This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Radiographer with expertise in Mammography to advance their professional journey.
The service encompasses both Screening and Symptomatic Services, operating with a dedicated team that manages a significant volume of patients annually. The facilities include state-of-the-art Mammography rooms equipped with advanced imaging technology, ensuring high-quality patient care.
We are currently enhancing our services by integrating innovative imaging techniques and expanding our training programs for staff development.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Breast Screening imaging team.
- Act as the Deputy for the Superintendent Radiographer in their absence.
- Conduct performance evaluations for radiographic assistants.
- Lead health promotion initiatives within the unit.
- Manage staff rotations between mobile units and the main facility.
- Ensure quality assurance reports are submitted to the regional QA physicist.
- Handle inventory management and supply orders.
- Serve as a Radiation Protection Supervisor within the Breast Imaging Service.
- Deliver mammographic services for both symptomatic and screening patients.

Job Responsibilities

- Facilitating effective communication among team members within the breast screening and symptomatic services.
- Collaborating with the regional QA team to ensure accurate service performance reporting.
- Maintaining professional relationships with patients and colleagues at all times.
- Engaging with medical staff, including doctors, surgeons, and nurses, to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Coordinating with equipment engineers and clerical staff to support operational efficiency.
- Addressing inquiries from the public and providing relevant health promotion information.
- Demonstrating sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients.
- Providing clear information to relatives, both in written and verbal formats.
Qualifications
Essential:
- BSc in Radiography or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant Post-Graduate qualification.
- Significant experience in mammography at a senior level.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ICE, PAS iWeb, and PACS systems.
- MSc level qualification in Mammography.
Experience
Essential:
- In-depth knowledge of the NHS and the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
- Proficiency in PACS and RIS systems.
- Experience in team leadership.
Desirable:
- Management and mentoring experience.
Communication Skills

- Ability to convey complex and sensitive information in an understandable manner to patients.
