About the Role:
The Health and Safety Apprentice will play a crucial role in supporting the management team in the development, management, implementation, and monitoring of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in updating systems in line with changes in legislation or best practice, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Deliver training and coaching to operational teams on safety procedures and protocols.
- Conduct workplace inspections to identify hazards and evaluate associated risks.
- Support the practical application of workplace instructions and suppliers' or manufacturers' instructions for the safe use of equipment, materials, and products.
- Assist in the implementation of SHE inspections and monitoring systems, demonstrating a balance between enforcement and internal support.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on SHE performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare and maintain records relating to safety, health, and environmental matters, ensuring compliance with legal and workplace requirements.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, and Occupational Health.
- Research and review updates on health and safety regulations, ensuring that information is from reliable sources.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Good standard of GCSEs, including English and Maths.
- Knowledge and experience in commonly used office computer applications.
