Salary: £.88 - £.88 pro rata per annum (Term Time Only)
Contract Duration: Temporary

Role Purpose

The role involves collaborating closely with educational staff to assist students identified with additional needs. The Support Assistant will engage in various tasks tailored to the specific requirements of the pupils.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating communication
  • Assisting with written assignments
  • Utilizing technology effectively
  • Supporting students with motor skill challenges
  • Listening and adhering to instructions
  • Completing assigned tasks
  • Assisting with mobility
  • Providing self-care support
  • Maintaining hygiene
  • Managing toileting needs
  • Cleaning up after incidents
  • Encouraging social skills development
  • Preparing educational materials
  • Supervising during breaks and meal times
  • Administering feeding and medication (post-training)

The Support Assistant will also provide individual or group support as directed by the Head Teacher, Class Teacher, or Learning Support Teacher. Additionally, they will assist in executing plans developed by the educational team or external agencies as necessary.

Monitoring and Reporting

Informal monitoring of student progress in both learning and behavior is expected. Contributions to student reports for review and planning meetings will also be required. Collaboration with the Head Teacher, Class Teacher, and Learning Support Teacher, along with other relevant agencies, is essential.

Qualifications

No formal qualifications are mandated; however, a satisfactory level of school education is preferred. The Support Assistant will be expected to participate in on-the-job training as opportunities arise.
