Position Overview
At Companies House, we are transitioning to a service-oriented team structure as part of our organizational transformation. Our current service teams include Filing, Get Company Information (GCI), and Intelligence & Enforcement (I&E). As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be instrumental in identifying, analyzing, and delivering requirements for these service teams while employing Agile methodologies within a Scrum framework. This is an exciting time for growth due to recent legislative changes, and we are eager to expand our team of business analysts.
The Business Analysis team operates within Product Design, part of the Digital and Technology directorate (DaT). Collaborating with other professions in the directorate, the analysis team will contribute to Service Squads, providing essential resources to develop systems and processes that enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
We seek motivated and diligent individuals ready to advance their business analysis careers by joining our team at Companies House as a Senior Business Analyst. You will play a crucial role in the success of our service squads.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with and report to a Lead Business Analyst within their assigned service squad.
As part of a service squad, the Senior Business Analyst is tasked with ensuring that requirements for projects and business enhancements are effectively communicated to facilitate development work on both existing and new digital services. You will also engage in the business improvement refinement process and address live issues to maintain continuity of service.
Core Duties Include:
- Agile Practices: Ensure processes are established for defining and refining user stories that meet scrum needs, while supporting Business Analysts in delivering those stories.
- Collaboration: Work alongside scrum teams, providing analytical representation during all relevant Agile ceremonies (e.g., Sprint planning, Sprint review).
- Testing Coordination: Collaborate with colleagues to assess and define necessary test coverage for projects and business improvement work.
- Business Improvement Engagement: Participate in the Business Improvement process for your service, facilitating value scoring sessions with service team representatives.
- Business Modelling: Develop and enhance your expertise in using BA tools to model business processes, maintaining business process documentation and data flows.
- User Requirements Management: Ensure development teams comprehend user requirements and serve as an escalation point for any queries that cannot be resolved by a Business Analyst.
- Stakeholder Management: Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across Filing, I&E, and GCI services, as well as other teams within Digital and Technology.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who is an enthusiastic and proactive team player, capable of thriving in a fast-paced development environment. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in Agile methodologies and processes for delivering requirements.
- Proficiency in creating test coverage for requirements, including data and scenarios.
- Experience in business improvement initiatives and resolving live issues.
- Skills in mapping business processes and systems modeling.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching others.
Qualifications:
- BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.
- Experience with SQL and/or JSON for data interrogation and issue resolution.
