We are seeking a highly skilled Highways Associate Director to join our team at Strata Construction Consulting UK Ltd in Birmingham. This consultancy has 14 offices across the UK and internationally, providing a wide range of services to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical design and delivery of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring high-quality results and meeting client expectations.
  • Undertaking the role of Highways Discipline Manager or Highways Discipline Director, providing leadership and guidance to junior staff.
  • Day-to-day management, direction, and training of staff, while undertaking project work and ensuring the smooth operation of the team.
  • Acting as a role model for others in the Company, demonstrating excellent technical skills and leadership abilities.
  • Developing relationships between the company and new and existing clients, identifying potential work and contributing to business growth.
  • Preparing fee budgets, proposals, and resource requirements for projects under control, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Coordinating with other engineers in regional offices and technical groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Managing the preparation of calculations, drawings, and other documents, ensuring control and quality during project execution.
  • Managing and liaising with clients on proposals and project work, ensuring client satisfaction and expectations are met.
  • Specifying and/or managing site examination and investigation works in a safe and effective manner, identifying and managing risks to agreed acceptable levels.
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of DMRB/MCHW and detailed design experience on road schemes above £5M construction value.
  • Detailed technical skills across key elements of highways design, including alignment design, drainage design, pavement design, road restraint design, signs and markings design, and lighting design.
  • Liaison with direct stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, and other external parties.
  • Professional Qualifications: CEng + MICE and/or MIHT or Experienced near-chartered engineer with 10-15 years of experience.
  • Essential Software: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Project, Civils 3D, MX, Infraworks, Windes/Microdrainage, PDS Sign/Line, Arcady, Lighting Reality.
  • Experience in Design and Build schemes, including supporting schemes through Construction, and understanding of related highway disciplines, including structures, earthworks, ITS, landscaping, road safety, traffic analysis, and BIM protocols in BS1192.
